This Kidde Carbon Monoxide Alarm is great. Nice style and simple to install and use. The digital display is easy to read because it is backlit. Test/Reset button is easy to locate. The front load battery is the best, no more having to pull the unit to change batteries.

This product was selected as a Best Buy by Consumer Reports based on value for your money. From what I can tell thus far they were spot on. The exterior looks like any other CO or smoke detector you might find in the hardware section of a store. The template and screws that are included make it extremely easy to mount. I especially like the LED display that tells you the current level of CO in ppm (parts per million) of the sampled air. There are other detectors out there that have some fancy talking alarms and other useless features but I don't think they're necessary. This CO monitor has everything a person should need for keeping track of the level of Carbon Monoxide in their house.

The Kidde 900-0146 (Kidde KN-COPP-B) battery-operated carbon monoxide (CO) alarm uses the patented Nighthawk electrochemical CO sensor to help protect you and your family from the dangers of CO. Easy to install, the 900-0146’s backlit digital display shows CO levels in parts per million and updates every 15 seconds. When the unit is operating properly and hazardous CO levels are not detected, its green LED flashes every 30 seconds. In a CO emergency, the red LED pulses and an 85 db horn sounds at specific intervals until the CO threat is eliminated. Because it’s powered by 3 AA batteries, the 900-0146 is able to provide continuous monitoring of CO levels, even during power outages. And the unit has an alarm that tells you when the batteries need to be replaced. The snap-open cover makes this task simple, and a special safety feature makes the cover difficult to put back on if you forget to install new batteries. For peace of mind, a test/reset button allows you to test that alarm is functioning properly. Plus a peak-level memory keeps track of the maximum CO level detected between resets. The 900-0146 is covered with a five-year manufacturer’s limited warranty and replacement is recommended after seven years.
